About
Dr Chamil Dayajeewa
Dr Chamil Dayajeewa is a well-qualified, experienced, competent Ophthalmologist based in Canberra with sub-specialty interests in cataract surgery, medical retina, and glaucoma.
He graduated from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka with honours, in the year 2000. Dr Dayajeewa then entered specialist training in Ophthalmology in Sri Lanka and completed his basic and advanced training in Ophthalmology in 2007.
Dr Dayajeewa undertook two years of further fellowship training in the United Kingdom in General Ophthalmology. There he gained experience in cataract surgery, glaucoma, and medical retina conditions, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and uveitis.
Following his training in the United Kingdom, he returned to Sri Lanka to work as a General Ophthalmologist in a regional hospital.
After providing nearly three years of comprehensive care for a remote community in Sri Lanka, he migrated to Australia in 2013 to work as an Ophthalmologist at the Canberra Hospital Eye Clinic. He continues to work there as a Staff Specialist and contributes to teaching at the Australian National University (ANU).
Dr Dayajeewa holds Fellowships from the Sri Lankan College of Ophthalmologist (COSL), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG), and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO).
Dr Dayajeewa now provides private consultations in his new state-of-the-art rooms, “ CANBERRA VISION CLINIC ”, at suite 6 in The Calvary Clinic opposite the Emergency Department of the Calvary Hospital in Bruce.
